Standard installation #
You will install Traefik on a VM.
Choosing the lab environment
For this installation, you will deploy a plain VM. So we'll use the 0_vm folder from our repository (see the 'setting up the test environment' lab):
cd traefik-formation/tp/0_vmCreating the environment
We'll create the environment on VirtualBox with the following Vagrant command
vagrant upConnecting to the test environment
We'll connect to the test environment with the following Vagrant command
vagrant ssh traefik-formationInstalling Traefik
You must install Traefik on this VM and make sure it starts correctly. You must also set it to start automatically with the system.
Destroying the environment
Once you're done with the exercise, you can destroy the lab environment with the following Vagrant command
vagrant destroy
Installing via Docker #
You will install Traefik as a Docker container.
Choosing the lab environment
For this installation, you will deploy a VM with Docker. So we'll use the 1_vm_docker folder from our repository (see the 'setting up the test environment' lab):
cd traefik-formation/tp/1_vm_dockerCreating the environment
We'll create the environment on VirtualBox with the following Vagrant command
vagrant upConnecting to the test environment
We'll connect to the test environment with the following Vagrant command
vagrant ssh traefik-formationInstalling Traefik
You must install Traefik on this VM as a Docker container. Start with 'docker run', but the most important part is being able to deploy it with Compose.
Destroying the environment
Once you're done with the exercise, you can destroy the lab environment with the following Vagrant command
vagrant destroy
Installing on Minikube #
You will install Traefik on Kubernetes (single-node with Minikube).
Choosing the lab environment
For this installation, you will deploy a VM with Docker. So we'll use the 3_vm_minukube folder from our repository (see the 'setting up the test environment' lab):
cd traefik-formation/tp/3_vm_minukubeCreating the environment
Follow the procedure that matches your OS to install Minikube.
Installing Traefik
You must install Traefik on this VM using the Helm package manager. Start with 'docker run', but the most important part is being able to deploy it with Compose.
Destroying the environment
Once you're done with the exercise, you can destroy the lab environment with the following Vagrant command
vagrant destroy
