Frequently asked questions

Is Faro free?

Yes, the Faro SDK is open source, and the receiver is part of Grafana Alloy. Grafana Cloud offers a managed version (Frontend Observability).

Does Faro slow down the page?

The SDK is lightweight and sends its data in batches; the impact is negligible for most sites.

Do you need user consent?

It depends on the data collected and its purpose: if in doubt, initialise Faro after consent and minimise the data.

Does Faro replace Google Analytics?

No: Faro measures performance and errors for technical teams; it is not a marketing audience tool.
