Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Azure subscription?

Not for the labs: Azurite emulates Blob, Queue and Table, Functions run locally and Bicep compiles and is tested locally. A trial subscription then lets you deploy for real.

Is there a LocalStack for Azure?

An Azure emulation by LocalStack exists in preview; the course favours Microsoft's official emulators (Azurite, Cosmos DB emulator, Functions Core Tools), which are stable and free.

AZ-900 or AZ-104?

AZ-900 validates the fundamentals with no prerequisites; AZ-104 validates administrator skills and requires hands-on practice. Both have a preparation path at the end of the course.
