Introduction #

What you will learn in this section
  • Run ClickStack
  • Send OTLP data
  • Search and correlate

Context. You are comparing two platforms built on ClickHouse. After SigNoz, you evaluate ClickStack and its HyperDX interface.

Prerequisites: Docker  ·  Estimated time: 35 min

Evaluate ClickStack in half an hour.

Setup #

Guided steps, with their solutions.

  1. 1. Run ClickStack

Why? The all-in-one image contains ClickHouse, the Collector and HyperDX.

Start the container and create your account in the UI.
  2. 2. Send traces

Why? telemetrygen produces realistic OTLP traces without writing an application.

Send traces for 30 seconds using the ingestion key.
  3. 3. Send logs

Why? Logs and traces end up in the same interface.

    Send logs with telemetrygen.
  4. 4. Search

Why? Field-based search is HyperDX's core feature.

In Search, filter the events of the boutique service, then open a trace and its spans.
  5. 5. Chart and alert

Why? To turn a search into a tracked indicator.

Create a chart of the number of events per minute for boutique, add it to a dashboard and define an alert if it drops to zero for 5 minutes.
